CYBERTOTEM REMIX PROJECT

In 2007, after I had released a solo project entitled Cyber Totem, I announced an open project whose main assumption was granting uncommercial access to two basic sound environments from that record to other musicians. The two sound environments were studio preparations based on natural sound recordings such as the sounds of the Carpathian mofettas and acoustic instruments such as didjeridu and an American Indian musical toy from Oregon. It was on these sound environments that I based two compositions from the original album: Dolphin's Death and Cyber Totem. I suggested that this procedure be followed by other musicians, which was a kind of exercise in composition. In the years 2008 and 2009 various musicians were sending over their own versions/visions of the compositions and, as a result of a number of discussions, arrangements and modifications the final shape of this CD, which presents an overview of those works, was established. You are on Marek Styczynski webside. Marek StyczyƄski (M.Sc.) is a forestry engineer , a musician and a specialist in mountain ecology. His specialties are musical ethnobotany and magic plants of the Carpathian Mountains. With his wife, Phd Anna Nacher, they work on their The Lost Space : Magic Carpathians Project concerning experimental music, based both on new technologies and ancient sources of Eurasian culture. Together they recorded several albums available in Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain and the USA. Looking for inspiration and interesting musical techniques they visited India, Nepal, Central Asia, the Balkans, Canada and the USA as well as the land of Saam beyond the Polar Circle. They are both authors of alternative guidebooks, scientific publications and numerous press articles.
